William J. Koehler

Hoosick – William J. “Bill” Koehler, 87, passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2010, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT. He had formerly resided on Route 7 in Hoosick, NY, and was the husband of the late Claire (Harrington) Koehler.
Born on January 10, 1923, in Hoosick Falls, NY, Bill was the son of the late Frank and Mary (McPhail) Koehler. He attended schools in Hoosick Falls and was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II. While in the Army he served in Central Europe, Northern France and the Rhineland. Bill was a car salesman at Patire Chevrolet for many years. He also owned and operated B&C Christmas Tree Farm in Hoosick. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to OTB. He also owned thoroughbreds throughout the years. He was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church and a former member of the Elks and V.F.W. in Hoosick Falls.
Survivors include his daughter, Sandra Koehler of Portland, OR, sons, Randy Harrington of Hoosick, William Koehler of San Antonio, TX, and Richard Koehler of New Lebanon, NY, a grandson and three great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends may call at the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, on Thursday, July 22, from 6 to 8 pm. Services and burial will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Second Chance Animal Shelter or the Make-A-Wish Foundation through the funeral home.
