Wilma L. Barthel

East Nassau – Wilma L. Face Barthel, 71, of Garfield Road, East Nassau, NY, died on Sunday evening, July 11, 2010, at Craneville Place of Dalton, MA.
Born in Stephentown, NY, on July 15, 1938, she was the daughter of the late George A. and Anna Dymond Face. A life-long resident of the area, Wilma graduated from New Lebanon High School. After her marriage, she raised her family in Latham, NY. She moved back to the Town of Stephentown in 1965 and worked as a Fuller Brush representative in the East Nassau area. From 1968 to 1974, she was the secretary to the Business Manager at Berkshire Farm before retiring.
While living in Latham, she was a member of the Women’s Society of Christian Service and the Blue Creek Garden Club. Wilma attended West Stephentown Baptist Church. She loved to play the piano, cook, swim and play miniature golf.
Survivors include her children, Donna L. and husband Keith Roberts of Naples, FL, and D. Lansing and wife Victoria Barthel of Wynantskill, NY, grandchildren, Anna Helene Volpi of Naples, FL, and Christopher and Samuel Barthel of Wynantskill, a brother, Wayne H. Face of East Nassau, sisters, Mae Powley, Evelyn Ableman and Eleanor Pigan, along with many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by a brother Charles W. Face.
Private graveside services will be held in East Nassau Cemetery where Rev. Trygve Tomlinson, pastor of the West Stephentown Baptist Church, will officiate.
Memorial contributions in Wilma’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of Hall & Higgins Funeral Home, P.O. Box 9, Stephentown, NY, 12168.
