Berlin – Earl H. Eaton, MD, 90, died Saturday, August 14, 2010, at Sunrise of Frederick, Maryland, where he had lived since February 2009.
Born February 20,1920, he was the son of Earl Eaton, MD and Myrtle (Thorn) Eaton of New York City.
Dr. Eaton served in World War II with the First Marine Division prior to establishing his private medical practice in Cobleskill, NY, where he lived and practiced medicine from 1947 to 1972. He also served during the Korean War as a Navy flight surgeon. He worked as medical director for Bristol-Myers Squibb in New Jersey until his retirement in 1989.
He is pre-deceased by his wife, Merlene (Walters) Eaton, their son Fred and infant daughter, Elizabeth Ann.
Dr. Eaton is survived by six children, Earl Eaton and his wife Roberta, Lawrence Eaton and his wife Charlotte, John Eaton and his wife Elaine, all of Scotia, NY, Charles Eaton and his wife Carol of Frederick, MD, Martha von Schilgen of Berlin, NY, and Susan Eaton of Wilmington, NC. Dr. Eaton is also survived by ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth (Betty) Eaton of Schoharie, NY.
A funeral service was held on August 19 at the Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home in Cobleskill.
