Robert Farrara is very pleased with his new restaurant on Classic St. “It’s going very well,” he said. “I’m very pleased with the Village Board, the Planning Board and the public. They have made it a very business friendly atmosphere.” Farrara felt that there was a need for more dining variety in the Village, and he had a desire to create a cocktail lounge with background music where the older set would feel comfortable enjoying some wine or a cocktail. “I just felt the timing was right,” he said. He feels that if there are more restaurants in the Village, then more people will come to eat.
He buys his produce from local farmers and buys as much organic foodstuff as possible. The meat comes from Eagle Bridge Meats, which is a family owned business. The seafood is also fresh. By next month Farrara expects to be serving thin crust brick oven pizza.

Though Farrara’s main business is making parts for underground gas drilling, he is not new to the restaurant business. Years ago he built the Sand Bar on Lyman St. and he also had restaurants in Lake George.
He has completely renovated the 36 Classic Street building. By using small swinging doors and curtains, he has separated the bar area from the entrance to the dining room. The dining room itself has new lighting, some high tables and plenty of booth seating with linen table covers. And, of course, upstairs is the attractive new lounge with black leather furnishings. He has made the outside of the building far more attractive as well, adding a small porch and awnings on the windows.
Farrara feels his prices are moderate, and he knows the food is good. He feels that, so far, everything has been going smoothly. “I couldn’t be happier,” he said.
Farrara’s Restaurant is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 3 pm to midnight.
