Francis A. LaPorte

Hoosick Falls – Francis A. LaPorte, 86, passed away August 11, 2010, at the SWVMC in Bennington, VT. He had resided in Lake Worth, FL, with his wife of 62 years, Katherine (Harrington) LaPorte.
Frank, born on March 10, 1924, in Hoosick Falls, NY, was the son of the late Elmer (Pat) and Mary (Stover) LaPorte. He served in the Army during WW II in Italy, France and Germany, receiving the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Frank worked as a locomotive engineer for the Boston and Maine Railroad for thirty years, retiring in 1983. He was also Past Commander of the American Legion in Hoosick Falls.
Survivors include his wife, his daughter, Linda Mavilla of Bennington, his three sons, Richard LaPorte and wife Cecelia of Attleboro, MA, Barry LaPorte and wife Nancy of Hoosick Falls and Ronald LaPorte and wife Heidi of Schaghticoke, NY, as well as his eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, August 14, at 11 am at the First Baptist Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. The burial will be at the convenience of the family. The Funeral arrangements are with the Mahar Funeral Home, Hoosick Falls.
