Sgt. Holcomb of the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that burglaries took place in Hoosick late Friday night into Saturday morning, August 13 and 14. Holcomb said doors were pried open at Man of Kent on Route 7 and at Bianca’s Pizza & Pasta on Route 22. “The suspects fled the scene after the burglar alarms went off prior to the police arriving.” Paula Baker of Baker’s Nursery said they were broken into two or three weeks ago and the cash drawer containing money was taken. They were also burglarized Friday/Saturday. “They made a mess of the office looking for cash,” said Baker.
Sgt. Holcomb said they had numerous commercial burglaries throughout the County that night and they have had several reported throughout the County this past month.
Key In Cars
Holcomb added that numerous cars have been stolen in the last month, particularly in Brunswick, Poestenkill and Schaghticoke. The Sheriff’s Department is requesting owners remove the keys from their cars and to lock them every night. All the vehicles that were stolen had the keys in them.
