Letter To The Editor – Public Engagement Is Required

August 6, 2010 By eastwickpress

To The Editor,
I would like to thank the Eastwick Press for correcting relayed misinformation in the July 16, 2010 issue concerning my residency. In addition I would also like to personally thank the overwhelming number of residents who have reached out to my family and myself and expressed their support.
Over the past couple of years I have actively participated in the Town of Grafton’s public affairs as a partner in the proper function of our Town government. Unfortunately, some of our elected officials and former elected officials have consistently portrayed my participation in an adversarial role. However, it is a well known fact that democracy is no longer considered a spectator sport and any democracy requires public engagement in order to be effective and representative of the people and successful.
New laws adopted by our elected officials and the conduct of some of our appointed servants I believe is proof positive of the need for more public participation and indicative of needed electoral change. I implore Grafton residents, voters, property owners, taxpayers and citizens to review the Eastwick Press website and query my name in the search engine and review in chronological order the actions of our elected officials and my participation from “Pig Farm Opposition” to “Misunderstandings,” and I ask that the silent majority be the “Sole Assessor” next November.
Thank you for your help in understanding the facts.
Sincerely,
David Buckley
