Margaret Yavaniski

Hoosick Falls – Margaret “Peggy” Yavaniski, 80, passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2010, at her residence on River Street in Hoosick Falls, NY. She was the wife of the late William Yavaniski, who died several years ago.
Born on June 1, 1930, in Hoosick Falls, Peggy was the daughter of the late Clarence and Pauline (Stewart) Baker. She attended schools in Hoosick Falls. Peggy worked for the Albany Felt Company in Hoosick Falls and later in Albany, NY, until retiring twenty-five years ago. She was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Hoosick Falls. Peggy was known for decorating her house on River Street for holidays and for her daily long walks. Peggy most enjoyed the time spent with family and friends.
Survivors include her sister, Kathryn Sicinski of Hoosick Falls, her nieces, Kathryn Brown of Manchester Center, VT, and Karen Kowalik of Pittstown, NY, and her grandson, John Yavaniski of Cleveland, OH. Peggy is also survived by several other nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by a son, John Yavaniski.
Funeral services were Tuesday, August 24, at 10:30 am from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls. The Office of Burial Rite was celebrated at 11 am from St. Mark’s Episcopal Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial followed the service at Maple Grove Cemetery in Hoosick Falls.
Relatives and friends called at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 7 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Second Chance Animal Shelter or the Rensselaer County Community Hospice through the funeral home.
