Sandra K. Hamer

August 6, 2010 By eastwickpress

Stephentown – Sandra K. Hamer passed away peacefully in the home that she loved in Stephentown, NY, on Saturday, July 31, 2010.
Born in Columbus, OH, Sandy graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1960 and then moved to Cleveland, OH, where she held public relations positions at Diamond Shamrock, Mt. Sinai Hospital and two television stations.
Her love of skiing took her to Massachusetts where she lived in Lenox, MA, for a year while working at the Pittsfield Chamber of Commerce.  She then moved to Hartford, CT, where there were more employment opportunities and worked for the Downtown Council.  In 1978 she realized her dream of owning her own business and opened Hamer Associates through which she managed projects in both the profit and non-profit sectors. After moving to Stephentown in 2000, she continued to operate her business from home until 2003 when she retired. Since retirement she has remained very busy in volunteer efforts for Shakespeare & Co. in Lenox and for the Stephentown Historical Society. Retirement also allowed her to travel more, a pastime she thoroughly enjoyed.
Sandy will be sorely missed by her life partner, Judith Pierson, as well as by her multitude of friends from all stages of her life. She also leaves several cousins in Ohio and Florida.
A celebration of her life will be held later in Hartford. Memorial contributions may be made to The Community Hospice of Rensselaer County, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY, 12144, whose wonderful staff made her final days so comfortable.
