Boys Soccer Ties Tough Tamarac Foe

September 24, 2010 By eastwickpress

by Julie Luciano
There was some tough competition between the 2009 WASAREN League Soccer Champions Tamarac and the Hoosick Falls Panthers on Wednesday in Hoosick Falls. Both teams came into the game knowing it would be a tough one. It was soon obvious that it would also become a rough game, too.
Not too long after the first whistle blew there was a foul called just outside of the Bengals’ 18 yard box. The Panthers’ senior Will Luke took the kick and sent it into the back of the net. The Panthers celebrated their 1-0 lead. HF did a great job of keeping the ball out of their defensive half of the field. Aaron Delurey who was playing defense with Cody Gaines and Will Luke did a great job of clearing anything that came near them. With a few more penalties and great attempts it was still a 1-0 Hoosick Falls lead. But as soon as they thought they had it in the bag with 6 minutes left, the Bengals broke through the Panthers’ last line, went straight for the goal and sent a ball into the far left corner past the Hoosick Falls keeper Ryan Crobock. The boys will travel to Granville on Friday September 24.
