Fall Outdoor Fun Day At Grafton Lakes State Park

Grafton Lakes State Park is hosting their first ever Fall Fun Day on Sunday, September 26. The day’s events include the Barge Chaser Canoe and Kayak Race, a treasure hunt, a bike ride, a kayak demo and much more. Enjoy this beautiful time of year in the outdoors by adventuring in Grafton Lakes State Park for the day.
Events begin in the morning with the annual Barge Chaser Canoe and Kayak Race at 10:30 am. Racers can choose between a 7 mile paddle with a portage or a 2.5 mile sprint. The cost of participation is only $2 per registrant. To register for the race, please contact Northern NY Paddlers at 489-5092 or arrive at the Park at 9:30 the morning of the race.
A Host Of Activities
For outdoor enthusiasts and families, the Park is offering a host of activities from 11 am to 3 pm.
At 11 am:
Family Nature Journaling (ends 12 pm)
Family Hike on Shaver Pond (ends 12:30 pm)
Meet the Llamas from Windy Ridge Farm (ends 3 pm)
Face Painting (ends 2 pm)
Make a Bat House (ends 2 pm)
Live Bluegrass Music (ends 2 pm)
Beach Nature Center displays open (ends 3 pm).
At 12 pm:
Family Friendly Bike Ride (Bring your own bike and helmet; led by Skyhigh Adventures (ends 2 pm)

Kayak and Canoe Demo with Battenkill Valley Outdoors (ends 3 pm)
Kayak and Canoe and accessories sale (ends 3 pm)
At 12:30 pm:
Treasure Hunt with map and compass (ends 1:30 pm)
Botanical Drawing (ends 2 pm)
The schedule is subject to change. The parking fee is $6 per vehicle on weekends through Columbus Day, but there is no additional charge for this event. For more information about Fall Fun Day, please call Grafton Lakes State Park at 279-1155.
