Hoosick Grange News

Hoosick Grange had election of officers on Wednesday, August 25. David Cornell was re-elected as Master/President. All other officers agreed to take their positions. The Fair Committee gave their report as well as other officers reported.
Betty Kipp was in charge of the Lecturer’s program. Her theme was “Memories.” Betty Spoke of remembering Mable Hewitt and a poem that she used to tell about a frivolous Old Gal that was very funny. She told what a portrait of a friend is and what the best things in life are. Betty remembered the minstrels that we used to have. Vera Griswold was the director of one. After the show, Vera recognized everyone who was in the show by thanking them in the newspaper. She thanked those attending the show and the donations with a card of appreciation.
Betty read a poem by Gilbert Wright titled “It’s Monday Again.” She read many of Bill Cosby’s sayings. Betty read an original poem that Vera Griswold wrote titled “Out My Kitchen Window.” The poem was about her growing up and about the house and barn, yard and family. It was very good. Betty had a closing thought titled, “Trustworthiness.” She had a game on new and old Grange members’ last names, all scrambled up. She had prizes. The Lecturer thanked Betty.
Mary and Elsie Marpe served delicious refreshments. The Lecturer announced that Louise Slingerland is in charge of the next program, and Omer and Marion Brenenstuhl are in charge of refreshments on September 8.
