Stephentown Library News

September 3, 2010 By eastwickpress

The Board of Stephentown Memorial Library invites the community to a celebration at the Library on Sunday, September 12, from 5 to 7 pm to congratulate Library Director Laurenne Teachout, who has just earned her Masters Degree in Library Science.  Light refreshments will be served.
An employee of the Library for ten years, Laurenne became  Director in 2008, at the same time as she began her MLS studies. She  is well known throughout the community for ensuring that Stephentown Memorial Library is a welcoming, helpful resource, stocked with great books and media and a constant source of important programming for all ages. Laurenne lives in Stephentown with her husband and daughter.
Although New York regulations for small libraries such as SML do not require that the director hold an advanced degree, the Board of the Stephentown Memorial Library believes that  small communities need and deserve professional library services and have employed professional librarians in the director role for many years.  They hope that everyone will stop by to congratulate Laurenne and celebrate her achievement.
