Beautiful Day For A Cow Plop

October 8, 2010 By eastwickpress

by Bea Peterson
Sunday was a perfect autumn day. The weather was absolutely beautiful for the St. Mary’s Academy Cow Plop and Car Show. There were plenty of activities for the kids and lots of great food. Ben Patten supplied plenty of patter and music to match the era of the 113 collector cars, trucks and motorcycle that made up this year’s show. Those vehicles just gleamed in the sun!
The grid on the field was set and ready to go. The 500 squares were all sold and Bruce and Robbie Church brought out their cow and calf to do their “thing.” Mom barely made it out of the truck before she declared a winner. Dr. Brent Coffield of Bennington, VT won the $1,000 prize and graciously donated it back to the school.

The wait for the calf to produce a winner was endless! But, finally, the little critter marked the square owned by Nancy DiDonato and she received $100. SMA Cow Plop judges Fr. Tom Zelker, SMA principal Maureen Daurio and Legislator Lester Goodermote confirmed the winning results.
Several of the Car Show participants had never been to the event before. They have already determined they will be back again next year to partake in the fun.
