Events At The Stephentown Memorial Library

October 8, 2010 By eastwickpress

Tax Savings Workshop
Lorri Parisi will join us for a helpful presentation on the many tax savings opportunities available. Registration is suggested. Please join us for this educational session on Saturday, October 9, at 11:30 am.
Toddler/Preschool Story Time
Join us Thursdays at 10 am. In this half hour session we will read aloud, sing songs, move about and do an art project while exploring the world though literature. Parents and children are encouraged to stay after story time so children have time for free play while grown-ups chat and browse for books.
Community Awareness Film Showing
On Tuesday, October 12, at 7 pm, we will show the film “Tapped,” an unflinching examination of the big business of bottled water. From the producers of “Who Killed the Electric Car” and “I.O.U.S.A.,” this timely documentary is a behind the scenes look into the unregulated and unseen world of an industry that aims to privatize and sell back the one resource that should never become a commodity – our water.  Discussion will follow the film, and refreshments will be served.  Bring a friend!
Family Movie Night
On Friday, October 15, at 7 pm we will show the newly released “How to Train Your Dragon” on our large screen. This fantasy action film is based on the children’s book by Cressida Cowell and is rated PG. Popcorn and drinks will be served. This event is free, and all are welcome!
Club Webkinz
This new group meets one Saturday a month, beginning on October 16 from 11 am to 1 pm in the Community Room. Bring your favorite Webkinz pets and meet other Webkinz owners for socializing and snacks. There will be extra computers available for all attendees to use to log in to their Webkinz account.
Celebrate Teen Read Week
Call or check our website for events and look for book displays at the Library. Teen Read Week is October 17 – 23. This year’s theme is Books with Beat.
Introduction to Zumba
Zumba class is on Tuesday, October 19, at 7pm. Zumba is an exhilarating Latin inspired dance fitness class designed to benefit anyone, regardless of age or fitness level.  Zumba Instructor Kim Conley is also a Certified Kripalu Yoga Teacher, Pilates Instructor and Personal Trainer who works with people of every age and ability all over the Berkshires. She will introduce us to Zumba and discuss the possibility of starting a regular Zumba class here in Stephentown. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes.  Zumba is a blast – come join the party!
Picasa® Class With Bob Saltz
On Tuesday, October 26, at 7 pm there will be a hands-on demonstration of working with Picasa®, a photo enhancing program.  The class is for everyone at all levels of experience who wants to learn more about Picasa®.  Printing options, collages, calendars, movie making with your images, blogging and many other features of this program will be discussed.  Time should permit participants to work with their own images.  Class space is limited, so please sign up soon!  Bring note-taking materials.
All events are free and open to the public.  Events will be at the Stephentown Memorial Library, 472 State Route 43, Stephentown.  For more information, call the Library at 518-733-5750 or check our website at www.stephentownlibrary.org.
