In a rematch of last year’s Class C Championship game, Berlin boys varsity soccer hosted the first place Waterford Fordians on Monday afternoon. After falling 3-1 to Waterford in their season opener, the Mountaineers were looking for revenge against the top team in the Central Hudson Valley League. Unfortunately for Berlin, those plans were ruined early in the game. In a span of nine minutes, the visiting Fordians headed three goals past Berlin keeper Phil Bruns on corner kicks. Waterford added one more goal just before halftime to take a 4-0 lead into the break. In the second half Berlin worked hard to get on the scoreboard but could not find the back of the net and were shut out 4-0. Bruns had 5 saves for the Mountaineers who dropped to 3-3 in the league and 4-3 overall.
