Frances Rodda Potter

New Lebanon – Frances Rodda Potter, 84, formerly of West Hill Road in New Lebanon, NY, died on Wednesday, October 6, 2010, at North Adams Regional Hospital in North Adams, MA. She had been a resident of Sweetbrook Nursing Home in Williamstown, MA.
Born March 16, 1926, in Hancock, MA, she was the daughter of the late Henry O. and Julia A. LaPier Rodda. She was the loving and devoted wife of the late David E. Potter, who died on November 13, 1992.
Fran was educated in the Gorton School in Hancock and was a 1942 graduate of New Lebanon High School. She was a legal secretary for many years working for Katz, Lapointe & Spina and also Cianflone & Blaisdell both in Pittsfield, MA. She was also the Tax Collector and a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals in the Town of New Lebanon. Frances attended Morningside Baptist Church in Pittsfield. She was a member of the Lebanon Valley Senior Citizens, where she served as President and was the Tour Director for many years, and also the Stephentown Senior Citizens. Fran and her husband loved traveling.
Survivors include her siblings, Doris M. Whitman of Stephentown, NY, Beatrice A. Hammersmith of Cherry Plain, NY, and Arthur H. and wife Elna Rodda of Hancock, along with many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were on Saturday, October 9, at noon in the Hall & Higgins Funeral Home, 457 NY 43, Stephentown, with burial following in the Cemetery of the Evergreens in Lebanon Springs, NY. Calling hours started at 10 am on Saturday in the funeral home.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Lebanon Valley Senior Citizens or the Alzheimer’s Association in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 9, Stephentown, NY. 12168.
