The Hoosick Area Youth Center’s Annual Youth Basketball Program will begin on Saturday, November 13. This fun, recreational program, geared toward improving skills and teamwork through weekly practices and league games, is open to boys and girls from kindergarten through eighth grade.
The program for children in grades 3-8 begins with a mandatory clinic on Saturday, November 6. The season for kindergarten through second grade students starts on Saturday, December 4. The boys’ seventh and eighth grade travel program begins on Saturday, November 20.
Practices for grades 3-8 begin the week of November 8. There will be 13 weeks of games and playoffs, with the program concluding in March. All games are held at the Center on Saturdays from 8 am to 4 pm.
Teams are headed by a volunteer coach, and practices will be held once a week. Anyone interested in volunteering as a coach for this season should contact Mike Baker at mbaker@afconline.com or call the Youth Center at 518-686-9050.
The league is also seeking corporate, business or individual sponsorship for teams. Sponsorship consists of a banner of recognition to be hung in the gym throughout the season, team shirts bearing the sponsor’s name and a team photo. For more information, contact the Youth Center.
All children must be pre-registered. Registration forms are available online at www.hoosickyouth.org and payment can be made through PayPal®. Parents can also register their children at the Youth Center any weekday afternoon from 3 to 6 pm. Beginning November 6, registration is also available on Saturdays from 10 am to 5 pm.
There is a fee to participate. The fee includes the 13-week program and play-offs, practice time, team T-shirt and an end of season celebration. Members of the Youth Center pay a discounted rate. Financial assistance may be available for those in need.
