Hoosick Grange met on Wednesday, October 13, with Master, David Cornell. During the business meeting the new yearly program booklets were given out. After the business meeting was finished, Helen Filkins was in charge of the Lecturer’s program. The theme of her program was “Hodge Podge.” Helen asked us questions on October. What is the flower for October, the birthstone, what is the moon on October 22 is called? She told about Columbus day – some states don’t celebrate it. Spain celebrates “Fiesta Day” where women are strong, cheerful, hug and kiss and do all kinds of things. Their flaw is they forget their worth. Helen told the story of two frogs in a pile of cream. One died by giving up, the other kicked and swam as hard as he could, making butter and was able to get out. He never gave up. She had a game on presidents and gave us three minutes to do it. No one got all ten correct. She had three prizes for the winners. Helen had many closing thoughts – You Know You’re Getting Old When…. Your back goes out more than you do…. Your knees buckle and your belt won’t and many more. The Lecturer thanked Helen for a fun program.
Refreshments were provided by Edna and Allen Cornell. Our next meeting is on October 27. Marion and Omer Brenenstuhl are in charge of the program. The theme is wedding gowns, pictures or something on a special occasion. David Schmidt is in charge of refreshments.
