Hoosick True Value Celebrates 20th Anniversary With Don Gilbert Day

October 15, 2010 By eastwickpress

by Bea Peterson
On Saturday, October 9, Hoosick True Value held a Grand Celebration. The Store began 20 years ago in the small garage on the property. The Bradley family business has expanded four times and now takes up a lot of space, offering an endless array of hardware items. Phil Bradley and Don Gilbert have worked in the store full time since it began. Don retired in August, and the anniversary celebration included Don Gilbert Day. On Saturday he said he has been busy at home with a “honey-do” list which has included putting in some new flooring. He would like to work maybe a couple of days a week, but he and his wife are eager to take off and do some traveling. Jackie (Bradley) Stroffoleno started working part time in the store when it began. She has been a full time fixture for many years now. Kate Bradley has been there ten years. They are assisted by Larry Kestler, who has worked at Hoosick True Value for seven years, and Eva Baker, who has worked in the store off and on since it opened.
Many folks came in for the 20th anniversary celebration. They enjoyed hot dogs, soda and popcorn and had an opportunity to wish Don Gilbert a happy retirement.

A staff photo was in order to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Hoosick True Value and to enjoy Don Gilbert Day. Back (l-r) - Kate Bradley, Jackie Stroffoleno, Eva Baker; front (l-r) - Larry Kestler, Don Gilbert and Phil Bradley. (Bea Peterson photo)
