John F. Gets A New Two Horse Wagon

Friday, June 23, 1854:  Some rainy. Our corn sheller being broken, Geo P. fetched us J.B. Maxon sheller and at night John F. carried it home and paid 25 cts for the use of it. Today John F. unwell and Thomas helped me shell corn. My wife unwell.
Saturday: John F. went with his youngest horse to Guy Moffitt’s to get information how to doctor his horse knee joint, and today I charged John Merrils for a hen 25 cts and 31 cts for half a bushel of potatoes.
Sunday: Today John F. took his horse and wagon and carried his uncle Wm. W. Holcomb as far as Petersburgh to Worthington’s on his way to Hoosick.
Tuesday: This forenoon John F. went with his lame horse to Lebanon but did not see the horse farmer Spencer, he returned home and worked on my Rodgers farm.
Wednesday: Thomas plowed and hoed potatoes on the hill above the woods this forenoon, and quite a thunder shower. Today Doctor Bates called and got one bushel potatoes and I charge him 63 cts on account.
Thursday: This morning John F. went up to Palmer Barnes with his young horses and fetched his two horse wagon home that said Barnes had repaired.
Friday: Quite rainy. Towards night John F. went to Hancock village with his new two horse and had the single whiffletrees lashed to the doubletrees to Bartlett’s shop.
Sunday: Today John F. went with his new two horse wagon and carried all my family excepting myself, and Mr. James Bennet and wife rode with him, they went to the Chapel to Elder Hawks meeting.
Monday: We this morning got in two wagon loads of hay with John F. young horses. This afternoon John F. went with his two horse team and carried his two sisters and Geo P’s wife up town near the Chapel to a picnic.
