A Visit To The In-Laws in Lenox

Tuesday, September 19, 1854: This afternoon Geo P. and Mr. J. B. Maxon went to look for sheep.
Wednesday: Today John F. and Thomas and Michael drew muck on the Rodgers farm.
Thursday: Today Geo P. home but did not buy any sheep but Maxon bought.
Saturday: I sorted potatoes and carried in the celler.
Monday: I gathered apples and Thomas picked winter apples. I sent by Geo P. and got a pint of gin to Lebanon.
Tuesday: This forenoon John F. and Thomas fanned up the buckwheat and I put it up in bags and there were 25 bushels, I fetched it with my horse and wagon all to one load and left it to put in Geo P. grainery. This afternoon I went to Lebanon with my horse and wagon to Bull’s post office, my wife and Geo P’s wife rode with me and went to Aaron Sackett’s to see the sick, that is the widow Ostrander.
Sunday, October 1: I took my horse and wagon and carried my wife and daughter Charlotte E. to the Presbyterian meeting, Mr. Brewster preached. Today Geo P. and wife rode to Nassau to Smith Strait’s. I gave twenty five cents contribution to meeting today.
Monday: This morning early, John F. rode to Smith Strait’s to let him know that Geo P. will adjourn his Millard suit. I am quite lame today. I gathered a few apples. Today Geo P. went to Berlin and adjourned his Millard suit on account my lameness of my breach, it hurt me to ride.
Tuesday: Today John F. is unwell. This afternoon Geo P. and wife went to Canaan to Mr. King’s on a visit and stayed tonight and Geo P. went to look at said King’s nursery but did not buy.
Wednesday: I went with my two wheel carriage to Lenox and my wife with me to Mr. McMurray’s on a visit, we met Geo P. and wife there. After dinner brother McMurray took his one horse wagon and carried myself and Geo P. to Pittsfield to cattle show.
