On Monday, November 22, Carmody East Auto Center Sales & Service will open on Route 7, between Stewart’s and the Sunoco Station. Carmody Ford & Mercury on State Route 29 in Greenwich is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. JC (John) Carmody was born the night his parents signed the dealership agreement. Now JC is expanding their operation to Hoosick. The new site will sell all makes of used cars and trucks and service all new and used vehicles. General Manager Ric McEachron said, “We should be able to service anything; to do anything for anybody, including tires.”
The building, which had been empty for about two years, has been completely redone. All new equipment is being installed in the back. Four lifts are already in place. In the next few months another four will be installed. McEachron said they will be hiring seven or eight people overall, probably more by summer. He anticipates they will be very busy.
The bright waiting room has plenty of windows, one looking into the garage. It will have wireless internet access so people can work while they are waiting for their cars. The auto display room has been given a new look as well.
McEachron said the clunker program last year eliminated many old cars. “The used car market today is good,” he said, “and the value very high.”
