Elsie M. Goyer

November 12, 2010 By eastwickpress

Grafton – Elsie Marie Goyer, 81, of County Route 85, Grafton, NY, went home to be with our Lord on November 9, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer. Elsie was the wife of Harold, whom she married 60 years ago on August 5, 1950. She was the only child of Lois and Clinton Wagar who pre-deceased her.
At one time Elsie worked for Behr Manning in Watervliet, NY. She also worked at the RPI Field House and at Actmedia (News America Marketing) before becoming a full time housewife. Elsie served on the Board of Elections for the Town of Grafton.
Elsie attended the Grafton Baptist Church and was a member of the Grafton Methodist Church. She participated in many functions at the Grafton Senior Center. She belonged to the Grafton Home Bureau as well. She was a member of the Grafton Ladies Fire Auxiliary since 1950. She held the office of Auxiliary President many times. Night or day, summer or winter, she always responded when needed by the Fire Department. She enjoyed spending time with her large family, visiting with friends, playing cards, square dancing, playing bingo, crocheting and working at any Fire Company function, especially cooking at its monthly breakfasts.
Along with her husband, Harold, she is survived by five children, James and wife Dale Goyer, Sr., and Richard and wife Cathy Goyer all of Grafton, Regina and husband William Goodermote of Troy, NY, Sharon and husband Michael Crandall Sr. of Grafton and Terry Goyer and fiance Eva of Altamont, NY. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, Brenda Insero, Melissa Rifenburg, James Goyer, Jr., Maeghan Wilson, Jennifer Goodermote, Michael Crandall Jr., Carrie Minkler, Samantha Crandall, Erika Ambrose, Jessica and Mary Crandall and Mikayla and Devon Goyer, and 20 great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Julia, Vanessa, Dylan, Angelina, Jacob, Chase, Brandon, Gabriella, Avery, Connor, Nora, Jaelyn, Cole, Nikki, Alexis, Alicia, Charlotte, Lilliana and Giavanna.
Funeral services are on Friday evening, November 12, at 7 o’clock, in the Grafton Baptist Church, Owen Road, Grafton, where Rev. Jason White will officiate. Interment will be in the Grafton Center Cemetery on Saturday morning at 9:30 am. Relatives and friends are invited to visitation at the Church on Friday from 3 to 6:45 pm.
In lieu of flowers, Elsie requested memorial contributions be made to the Grafton Ladies Fire Auxiliary or the Grafton Baptist Church.
Arrangements are under the guidance of the Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home of Petersburgh, NY.
