Hoosick Grange met on October 27. Master David Cornell conducted the business meeting. Marion and Omer Brenenstuhl were in charge of the Lecturer’s program.
It was Wedding Gown Night with pictures or something on a special occasion. There were wedding gowns and lots of pictures. Marion had a roll call and started with Corinne Philpott. She had pictures of their wedding and pictures of special family times. Her husband, Carleton, told how he had a flat tire going to the church. Next was Marion Cipperly who had pictures and had a story of what happened to her gown. Elsie Marpe told stories of her wedding day. It was Marion Hynick’s turn, and it was a wonder she got married with all the problems they had. Louise Slingerland told she married twice. Her first husband died. Louise Ciuk wanted to be married on Valentine’s Day. She told us what she did. Mary Remancus had pictures of her wedding. She was married in Copake Falls in a brand new church, and it was the first wedding in it. Martha Babbitt married a man with four children. He didn’t want to marry again, but after one date, and the second one, he asked her to marry him. They married six months later. Some change! They had a pig roast for their reception. All the children and grandchildren went to the wedding. She also had pictures. David Cornell was married in Lenox. He had pictures of the wedding. Marion Brenenstuhl was married in the Dutch Reform Church in April. She had pictures and a gown. Marion ended her program with a scramble word wedding game. She had prizes and a closing thought, “If anything can go well, it will.” The Lecturer thanked Marion for a very nice program. The Grangers also thanked David Schmidt for delicious refreshments.
Our next meeting is on November 10. We are having a turkey dinner for Grangers and family. Helen Filkins is Chairman along with Louise Ciuk and Mary Remancus. All Grangers are to help out. Martha Babbitt will be reporting on State Grange. We will be giving out four fifty-year certificates and several special year seals.
