James W. Baldwin Sr.

North Hoosick – James W. Baldwin Sr., 78, passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2010, at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington, VT. He had formerly resided in North Hoosick, NY, and was the husband of the late Gwendolyn (Eastman) Baldwin, who died on September 17, 2007.
Born on September 17, 1932, in Hoosick Falls, NY, James was the son of the late Arthur and Hazel (Parker) Baldwin. He graduated from Hoosick Falls High School and St. Joseph’s College in Bennington with an Associates Degree. He served in the United States Navy from 1950 to 1954. James worked at Fairbanks Express in Hoosick Falls for forty years as a rate clerk, retiring in 1996. He was a member of the North Hoosick Fire Department, where he served as Chief for three years. James enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening and was a member of the Owlkill Fish & Game Club.
Survivors include his daughters, Donna Hunt and husband Gary of Bennington, Deborah Maleady and husband Ed of Hoosick Falls, Dawn Hurst and husband Joseph of Zebulon, GA, and his son, James W. Baldwin Jr. and his wife Mary of Hoosick Falls. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. James is pre-deceased by a sister, Ester Slavin, and two brothers, Richard and Robert Baldwin.
Services will be held at a later date to be announced. Arrangements are under the direction of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls.
