JLS Announces New Program To Increase College Scholarships

The JLS Foundation announced a new community service program designed to make a positive impact on the Town of Hoosick and to offer more college scholarship money to a winning student from Hoosick Falls Central School (HFCS).
The JLS Foundation honors the memory of the late John Liporace Sr. Each year the Foundation selects five finalists from the HFCS senior class and sends them to New York City where they meet a network of inspirational leaders working across a variety of industries. One student receives a $2,000 college grant.
Beginning this year, the Foundation will offer an additional, optional program for the five JLS Foundation finalists. If the finalists elect to participate they need to select one group project to complete during their senior year that will make a positive impact on the Town of Hoosick. The JLS Foundation Board of Directors will determine the worthiness of the project. If the students successfully complete the project, the one winning student will earn an additional $2,000 scholarship for completing the project.
“My Dad was a huge proponent of community service, and he loved Hoosick Falls,” said John Liporace, Jr. “This new program continues his legacy, and we hope it will make at least a small, positive impact on the community.”
This year’s JLS Foundation finalists from the HFCS Class of 2011 include Kendra Andrew, Michael Brewster, David Ciuk, James Lynch and Brennen O’Donnell.
