Ask Fr. Tom Zelker, pastor of Immaculate Conception Church in Hoosick Falls and he will tell you he wasn’t thinking when he said he would get a Mohawk haircut to support the HFCS football team. He’ll also tell you the haircut was never about him… it was about the kids. He has supported all the sports teams at St. Mary’s and at HFCS this season. When the football players sported Mohawks the week before, Father just stepped in line, especially if the event could be a fund raiser for the Church’s Youth Group.
Early Friday evening, November 12, almost 100 people, plus FOX 23 News,

gathered in the SMA gym to watch hair stylist Charity King cut Fr. Tom’s hair. He commented it must be a slow night in Hoosick Falls if that many people would gather to watch a haircut! Members of the football team gathered ‘round as the clippers began their work. The end result was a stylish, modest Mohawk. And the coffers of the Youth Group are over $1,000 richer.
