Volunteers Make A Difference At The HACA Food Pantry

November 24, 2010 By eastwickpress

Volunteers made the difference in preparing for Thanksgiving at the HACA Food Pantry. Employees of St. Gobain filled the Pantry freezer with turkeys for the Thanksgiving boxes. Food Pantry volunteers unloaded and stocked over 6,000 pounds of food from the Regional Food Bank of NENY. Members of the HF Republican Committee and the Hoosick Rescue Squad assisted in assembling boxes on Thursday evening and returning on Friday evening to bag potatoes and fill and stack boxes. The potatoes were donated by Moses Vegetable Stand. Other volunteers will pick up pies and turkeys on Monday in time for distribution in the evening.

Volunteers at the food pantry are (l to r) Vivian Smith, Iva Durkee, Norma Brenenstuhl, Frank Downing, Jeff Wysocki, Andy Beaty and Kevin Allard. Missing from the picture are Committee Chair Sue Landry, Steve Landry, Dick and Mary Frey, Dwight Howes, Carlton and Corinne Philpot, Gary, George and Alison Pine, Armand and Margaret Rousseau, Jack McLucas, Vickie Wysocki, Keith Cipperly, Joe Nuzzo, Cindy Mattison, Beth Cipperly and Rosanne Miller. Leftovers will still be in refrigerators when preparations for the Christmas food and gift boxes start next week at Immaculate Conception Church. This annual event is a cooperative effort between HACA, HFCS, community businesses, organizations and individuals.
For further information or interest in volunteering call 686-5163. Donations may be sent to HACA, P.O. Box #1, Hoosick Falls, NY, 12090.
