Animal Tracking Classes

Tamakoce Wilderness Programs and the Friends of Dyken Pond have put together a series of classes on animal tracking with the goals of educating the public and furthering conservation efforts on the Rensselaer Plateau. This series consists of seven days of tracking in the field and two evening presentations. The series starts on January 8 and continues into February. Each day will be in a different location including the Dyken Pond Environmental Education Center and the Grafton Lakes State Park.
The tracking series is part of an effort to form a wildlife monitoring team to collect data using citizen science methods and to submit the information to a regional database. Conservation movements, town planning boards and individuals can then make development decisions with a greater awareness of the ecological picture.
