Berlin/Grafton United Methodist Churches Become One

December 10, 2010 By eastwickpress

At the annual charge conference of the Berlin/Grafton United Methodist Churches on December 5, a vote was passed to combine the congregations into one. The Church’s new name is United Methodist Church and will be in the former Berlin United Methodist Church.
The Grafton Church building will be closed and deconsecrated. The Upper New York State Conference of the United Methodist Church will take over care and sale of the building as of January 1, 2011. A closing ceremony will be held at the Grafton United Methodist Church on Sunday, December 12, at 11 am, Pastor Joy Lowenthal presiding.  All are welcome.
The remaining December services will be at the “new” church in Berlin at 11 am.  A special children’s Christmas Pageant followed by a potluck lunch will be on December 19 at 11 am.  Christmas Eve service will be at 7 pm.  Beginning January 2 worship time will be permanently at 10 am.
We are here to serve those in need in the communities of Berlin, Grafton and beyond with the help of the Holy Spirit and in the spirit of love. If this sounds like your purpose contact the church office (658-2942) and leave a message for Pastor Joy Lowenthal.
