Hoosick Falls Girls Scouts Clothing Drive

December 3, 2010 By eastwickpress

On Saturday, December 11, local Girl Scout troops will be collecting new and like-new clothing and accessories to benefit families in the Town of Hoosick. The scouts will be stationed at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church on Main Street, Hoosick Falls, from 9 to 11 am.
What is needed most is kids and adult clothing, hats, mittens and jackets in new or very good condition. Due to the amount of sorting that will be needed, the scouts would appreciate all clothes being washed ahead of time and sorted into like items, if possible.
If you are unable to bring your items to the Church on December 11, we can arrange for pick up ahead of time by one of our troop volunteers. Please email GirlScoutsHoosick@gmail.com or call Joyce Brewer, Service Unit Manager, at 518-686-4942.
Hoosick Falls Girl Scouts participate in many community and individual troop activities throughout the year. If you’re interested in learning more about becoming a volunteer with the local Girl Scouts or know a girl who is interested in becoming a scout, please send an email to GirlScoutsHoosick@gmail.com or call 518-686-4942.

Hoosick Falls Junior Girl Scout Troop 1104 recently earned their Horse Fun merit badge while visiting Kimberly Farms in North Bennington. The girls went on a tour of the stables and learned about different breeds of horses. They also learned about the horses diets, equipment/tack used with the horses and about the different styles of riding. The girls "met" each of the horses and then went on a trail ride. The girls wrapped up their afternoon around the campfire enjoying s’mores.
