James R. Banks

Hoosick Falls – James Richard Banks, 56, passed away on Saturday, December 4, 2010, at the Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY. He had resided on Maple Avenue in Troy, NY, and was the son of Marlene (McGinnis) Banks of Hoosick Falls, NY, and the late Glenn Banks.
James was born on April 30, 1954, in Bennington, VT. James worked at Riverside Enterprises in Troy. As a young man he enjoyed assisting his father in his plumbing and heating business. He enjoyed playing cards, dancing, singing, bowling, shooting pool and traveling. James was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Hoosick Falls.
Survivors, other than his mother Marlene, include his sisters, Karen Hewson and husband Peter of Hoosick Falls, Sue Metcalf and husband Wynn of Shaftsbury, VT, and Kelly Splaine and husband Rob of Lincolnville, ME, and several nieces and nephews. Survivors also include many close friends and his extended family at the Maple Avenue residence.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on Tuesday, December 7, at 10 am from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial followed the Mass at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hoosick Falls.
Relatives and friends called at the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street, Hoosick Falls, on Monday from 4 to 6 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arc of Rensselaer County in memory of James Banks through the funeral home.
