Once again the St. Mary’s Academy gymnasium was transformed for the 2010 Holiday Cabaret. Low lights and lighted Christmas trees added just the right ambiance. Sumptuous appetizers, drinks, delicious desserts and coffee added to the seasonal warmth and charm. Then there were the irresistible Silent Auction items that always tantalize bidders.
This year the entertainment was The Singing Anchors from the Fort Salem Theater.
Accompanied by Fort Salem’s Artistic Director Jay Kerr, television news anchors Jerry Gretzinger from WRGB, Channel 6, and Jessica Layton and Benita Zahn from WNYT, Channel 13, put on an excellent show. They sang in duets and in solos, all their songs outstanding. They added personal conversational touches that made them much more real than their news anchor images. Many in the audience will be watching them on television in a different light from now on.
As usual the SMA Cabaret offered attendees a lovely way to begin the Christmas season.
