Broadwell Resigns From Petersburgh Board

January 7, 2011 By eastwickpress

by Alex Brooks
At Petersburgh’s Organizational Meeting, Supervisor Peter Schaaphok said the Town had received a letter of resignation from Councilman Ray Broadwell, who has not attended Town Board meetings much in the second half of 2010. The Board hasn’t yet set up any formal process for seeking candidates for an interim appointment to fill Broadwell’s seat, but they indicated they would like to hear from people who might be interested in serving on the Town Board.
The Board passed the usual Resolution Number 1 of the New Year, making appointments and setting salaries (these appointments appear below). They also appointed Brandon deWaal to another six year term on the Planning Board, and they appointed Katie Fiske to the Fire Advisory Board, a countywide organization that meets monthly to discuss firefighting issues.
The Board had to revisit the dog license fees that they established last month because they had overlooked a State requirement that the fee for unaltered dogs must be $5 higher than the fee for altered dogs. With this in mind, they set the fees at $3.50 and $8.50. They left Water District rates as before; the semiannual fee is $135 plus $2 per thousand gallons used. There is a fee of $250 twice a year if the water meter on your house is not working and you have not attempted to get it repaired.
The fees under the Site Plan Review Law were tabled because Schaaphok said he wanted to talk to some people and do some research before determining what the fees should be.
