Grafton Planning Board Action – January 2011

Public Hearing On Firearm License
The Grafton Planning Board meeting on Monday evening, January 24, was brief. The session began with a Public Hearing on the transfer of a Federal Firearms License for John Kelly of 141 Steve O’Dell Road. Kelly previously lived in Troy and has had this license for 20 years. By law he had to get the license transferred when he moved. There was no one at the hearing.
When the regular meeting began, Chairman Tom Withcuskey reviewed an environmental impact statement regarding the license. It was deemed that there was no environmental impact, and the Board approved the transfer of the license. The Board had no other business before it.
The Effect Of Windmills On Species
Dr. Dave Hunt told the Board that it had been mentioned to him that he might be contacted regarding various species that could be affected by the installation of wind turbines in the area. He has yet to be contacted. Withcuskey told him the project was undoubtedly on hold at the moment as the land Gamesa Energy was interested in belongs to the Gundrum family and they have recently had a death in the family. Withcuskey assured Hunt that Gamesa considers any environmental impact a top priority and said the company is environmentally sensitive.
Withcuskey adjourned the meeting in memory of Lois Gundrum. “Her dedicated service to the Planning Board will be sorely missed,” he said.
