Local Girl Scouts Help Extend Thrift Shop Hours

January 14, 2011 By eastwickpress

In December 2010, Girl Scouts from local Service Unit #155, hosted a clothing drive to collect clothes and accessories for the local thrift shop. The clothing drive was such a huge success – with hundreds of new and like-new clothing and accessories for adults and children donated – the Girl Scouts wanted to make sure the items found their way to those who needed them most.
The thrift store is open at various times throughout the year but has limited hours during the colder, winter months. So that’s where the Girl Scouts are stepping in. They will be opening the shop on four occasions in January and February to give people extra opportunities to get really great clothes for really great prices.
All winter coats are free, but prices vary for other items ranging from $.25 (children’s clothing) to $1 for men’s and women’s tops, pants and skirts and $3 for adult jackets and suits. Or shoppers can fill a provided shopping bag for $5. Only cash will be accepted for purchases.
The thrift store will be open Fridays, January 21 and February 11, from 4 to 8 pm and on Saturdays, January 22 and February 12, from 9:30 am to noon. It is located at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church (second floor) on Main Street, Hoosick Falls.
The proceeds from these events will benefit the thrift shop and programs for Girl Scouts. If you have questions, please email GirlScoutsHoosick@gmail.com or contact Joyce Brewer, Service Unit Manager at 518-686-4942.
