Public Hearing Tuesday
by Bea Peterson
On Tuesday, January 10, the Village of Hoosick Falls will hold a Public Hearing at 6 pm on the new proposed water billing structure. The hearing will take place before the regular Board meeting. One key feature in the proposed structure is that there will be no minimum usage fees. According to the proposal available for review at the Village Clerk’s office, Village and Town residents’ meters will be read and bills will be issued three times a year. Water and Sewer Bonds will be a separate charge from usage charges. The tentative structure states Village and Town residents will pay $159.26 for the Water Bond and $163.87 for the Sewer Bond, divided over three payments, plus a per one thousand gallon water rate. Town Residents will be billed two percent more than Village residents for water and sewer and 1.5 percent more if they only use water.
Village and Town Businesses will be charged $317.52 for water and $327.74 for Sewer, twice the rate as residences. Businesses will be billed twice per year. Water usage rates will be the same as for Village and Town residents.
