Music & Art Café Starts 2011 With Local Talent

January 20, 2011 By eastwickpress

The Petersburgh Veterans Memorial Community Center (PVMCC) will be kicking off the 2011 Season of Music & Art Café on Friday, January 28. This month’s featured artists are Carolyn and Molly Durnin of Grafton. This dynamic mother-daughter duo performs live original and cover music that you won’t want to miss. The event runs from 7 to 9 pm with light refreshments available for concession. Admission is $5 per person, $8 per couple and $10 per family. The PVMCC is located on Rt. 2 in Petersburgh. For more information on The Durnin’s, visit Molly Durnin Music on Facebook or Myspace.
Music & Art Café was born in 2008 in an effort to enrich local cultural awareness by bringing live, local music to the PVMCC while encouraging audience participation through artistic expression. Musicians and singers are positioned on the floor for convenient sketching by audience members, creating a personal, intimate environment reminiscent of a coffeehouse experience.
Every month (except December) PVMCC has showcased performances by local artists Josh Greenberg, Karen Webster, Ryan Hubbard, Mike McMann, Athena Burke, Barry Hyman, Terry Lamphere and many more. This year we are excited to present monthly live music for the community starting with The Durnins on January 28, continuing with Athena Burke on February 25 and Tophenjamin (an acoustic duo featuring brothers Chris and Ben Lane of Pittstown) on March 25.
Music & Art Café is open to everyone. Do not assume that this event is only for “artsy” people. It is a fun, inexpensive and local way to spend a few hours on a Friday night whether you come alone, with someone special or with your whole family! Don’t let the opportunity to see good live music pass you by; please come and support your local community events!
