Panthers Have No Trouble With Bengals

January 14, 2011 By eastwickpress

by Ryan Mosher
On Monday night, January 10, the Hoosick Falls boys basketball team hosted WASAREN League foe Tamarac in a game that was supposed to be played on Friday night but was postponed. The second place Panthers had no trouble dealing with the Bengals from the opening tip, as they ran out to a 15-3 lead in the opening minutes.
The Bengals did not completely give up, coming back to as close as 8 points at one point in the second quarter. But Hoosick Falls stopped the Bengal run by turning up the defense and by getting a three-pointer by Tanner Williams that gave the Panthers a 37-21 lead just before the halftime buzzer. The third quarter would put the game away for the home team, as six different players combined to score 24 points in the quarter while holding the Tamarac team to just 10 points.  The Panther bench netted 13 points in the final quarter, giving Hoosick Falls a 74-40 victory.
Tanner Williams led all scorers with 18 points, followed by Sean Dingman with 14 and Quinn Rasmus with 13 points.  The Panthers’ record now stands at 4-1 in the WASAREN and 6-2 overall.
