Recycle Your Christmas Trees At GLSP

January 7, 2011 By eastwickpress

Grafton Lakes State Park is accepting Christmas trees for recycling after the holiday.  The trees will be recycled or reused in ways that benefit the Park and the public.  Please drop off trees – emptied of all decorations – to the Park’s maintenance shop between the hours of 8 am and 4:30 pm until January 16.
Trees will be mulched and used for erosion control on the Park’s trails.  In addition, for the second year in a row, some trees will be dropped into Long Pond to provide fish habitat by the dam.  Creating these shady, cooler areas of water near the dam improves fishing in that popular location in the hot summer months.
Please be aware that Grafton Lakes State Park is only maintaining the winter entrance on Long Pond Road until spring.  The Park is open daily from 8 am to dusk.  For information about the Christmas tree drop-off, please contact the park at 279-1155.
