Robert W. Whitman

Hancock – Robert W. Whitman, 79, of Main Street, Hancock, MA, died on Christmas Day, 2010, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA.
Born August 31, 1931, he was the son of the late Perry A. and Ruth Graham Whitman. A lifelong resident of Hancock, Bob was a faithful member of the Hancock Baptist Church. After attending Hancock schools, he worked as a lathe operator at the W.J. Cowee, Co., Inc. in Berlin, NY, retiring in 2000 after 52 years of service. He enjoyed woodworking, lawn ornaments, bowling and dancing.
Survivors include his siblings, Perry G. Whitman of Hancock, Hollis Whitman of Vero Beach, FL, and Emma Blair, Marjorie Southard and Donald J. Whitman – all of Hancock, along with many nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by a brother, Lawrence Whitman.
A Memorial Service was held on Friday, December 31, at 10 am in the Hancock Baptist Church, Main Street. Bob’s family accepted visitors at the Church starting at 9 am. A Time of Fellowship followed the service at the Church. Spring interment will take place in the Hancock Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hancock Baptist Church. Arrangements are under the guidance of the Hall & Higgins Funeral Home of Stephentown, NY.
