Upcoming Events At Stephentown Memorial Library

January 14, 2011 By eastwickpress

• Zumba Classes at SML – Wednesday evenings at 7 pm beginning on January 19. Zumba is an exhilarating Latin-inspired dance fitness class designed to benefit anyone, regardless of age or fitness level. Zumba Instructor Kim Conley is also a Certified Kripalu Yoga Teacher, Pilates Instructor and Personal Trainer who works with people of every age and ability all over the Berkshires. She will lead us in a one hour weekly class.  Each class costs $5 per participant.  Class size is limited to 30 participants, so advance registration is suggested.  Class will be held in the main room of SML, with possible overflow into the Community Room.  Wear comfortable clothing and shoes.  Zumba is a blast – come join the party!
• New Book Discussion for Youth – in February we will begin a new book discussion group for students in grades 6 through 9.  The group will meet monthly on Saturdays at 1 pm, beginning on February 26.  We want your input on which books you’d like to read and discuss.  Stop by the Library anytime and add your suggested titles to the box on the Director’s desk. We will select and announce a first title in early February, allowing plenty of time to read the book before the first meeting.  Copies of the book will be available at the Library. Interested in a book discussion group but not in this age group?  We are happy to start additional groups if there is sufficient interest, just let us know.
• Toddler/Preschool Story Time – join us Wednesdays at 10 am. In this half hour session we will read aloud, sing songs, move about and do an art project while exploring the world through literature. Parents and children are encouraged to stay after story time so children have time for free play while grown-ups chat and browse for books.
Events will be at the Stephentown Memorial Library, 472 State Route 43, Stephentown.  For more information, call the Library at 518-733-5750 or check our website at www.stephentownlibrary.org.
