William F. Cipperly

Hoosick – William F. “Ike” Cipperly Sr., 93, passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2011, at the Centers for Living & Rehabilitation in Bennington, VT. He had resided on William Cipperly Road in Breese Hollow, Hoosick, NY. He was the husband of the late Pauline (Gelinas) Cipperly, who died on March 1, 1982. William and Pauline were married in Toms River, NJ, in 1943.
Born on July 23, 1917, at the family home in Breese Hollow, William was the son of the late Harry and Alice (Webster) Cipperly. William attended schools in Hoosick Falls, NY. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1941 to 1945, which included time served in France. William was a farmer in Breese Hollow all of his life, owning the Boiling Brook Farm along with his brothers. Farming was his life; he also enjoyed taking rides, listening to country music and gardening. Most of all he enjoyed time with family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He served on the Hoosick Rural Cemetery Board for several years.
Survivors include his children, Sandra Burgess, Bev Lohnes and William F. Cipperly Jr., all of Hoosick Falls, and Kenneth Cipperly of North Hoosick, NY, his sisters, Vera Griswold and Betty Kipp both of Hoosick Falls, and his brother, Robert Cipperly of Troy, NY. William is also survived by ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his sons, Harry Cipperly and James Cipperly, his sisters Blanche Cipperly, Ethel Sherin, Eleanor Lohnes, Doris Kipp and Helen Cloke, an infant brother, Walter, and his brothers, George, Dean, Frank, Waldo and Paul Cipperly, and his daughter-in-law, Donna Cipperly.
Funeral services are Friday, January 28, at 12 pm, from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial will be in the spring at Hoosick Rural Cemetery, Hoosick. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 10:30 am until the start of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
