Morgan’s Artillery portrays an Irish unit named for New York Governor Edwin D. Morgan, who purchased artillery pieces for the original unit. The group fields a full scale, high quality 1841 mountain howitzer which features a reproduction gun carriage of the kind made in Troy during the Civil War period. Morgan’s Artillery is affiliated with the Capital District Civil War Round Table, American Artillery Association, 1st Division Army of Northern Virginia and New York Civil War 150th Sesquicentennial Committee. This re-enacting group was formed in 2000 and is dedicated to the education of the public and the preservation of the memory of the Irish military units of both North and South that served in the Civil War. McEvilly also adds a touch of Irish history with many symbols such as flags, uniforms and of course stories and Irish humor.
