Doris M. Teal

Poestenkill – Doris M. Teal, 86, of Blue Factory Road, Poestenkill, NY, died suddenly on Sunday, January 30, 2011, at her residence. Born and raised in Berlin, NY, Doris was the daughter of the late Albert and Elsie Maxon Yerden and wife for 58 years to the late Alfred L. Teal. Doris had resided in Poestenkill since 1945 and had been a homemaker most of her life. During the 1970s Doris worked for the former Woodland Village on the Green where she had been the Case Manager and for many years was an Avon Representative in Poestenkill. Doris enjoyed baking chocolate chip cookies for her grandchildren, working crossword and jigsaw puzzles and bird watching.
Doris was the mother of the late Roy Teal and Wayne Teal, sister of the late Elmer Yerden and mother-in-law of the late Penny Teal and Debra Teal
Survivors include her children, Ronald Teal of Southwick, MA, Thomas and his wife Jill Teal of Melrose, NY, and Joan and husband William Southard of Poestenkill, her daughter-in-law, Ruth Teal of Poestenkill, her sisters, Irma and husband Joseph Hammersmith and Luella and husband William Osterhout, both of Berlin, her special friend, Tom Goyer of Poestenkill, and 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are Friday at 7 pm at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel, 2691 NY 43, at Glass Lake in Averill Park, NY. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Funeral Chapel on Friday from 4 to 7 pm prior to the service. A Spring interment will take place at Brookside Cemetery in Barberville, Poestenkill.
