Hazel Burdick Stanley

Berlin – Hazel Burdick Stanley, 78, a resident of Brimmer Jct. Road in Berlin, NY, for 47 years, died on Sunday, February 6, 2011, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT. She had resided at the Hoosick Falls Health Center, Hoosick Falls, NY, for the last seven months.
Born June 4, 1932, in Petersburgh, NY, she was the daughter of the late Loren and Julia Jones Burdick. She was the wife of 47 years to Lloyd Groux, who died on April 15, 2008. Survivors include her children, Donna and husband Allen Button of Cherry Plain, NY, Wanda and husband Arthur Moon of Cropseyville, NY, Nora and husband Edward Ormsbee of Berlin, Harold and wife Wanda Stanley of Bennington, Arnold Van Wie of Rochester, NY, and Kathleen Duval of Cohoes, NY, her siblings, Harold and wife Betty Burdick of Eagle Mills, NY, Lloyd and wife Mabel Burdick of Berlin and Marie Tefoe of Mariaville, NY, along with 14 grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is pre-deceased by a son, Don Stanley, and a brother, Robert Burdick.
Hazel enjoyed going to yard sales, going on back road rides and dining out with her daughter Nora. She loved to laugh and swear, which she did right up to the end.
Funeral services are on Thursday, February 10, at 4 pm in the Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home, 66 Armsby Road, Petersburgh, with Rev. Trygve Tomlinson officiating. Spring burial will be in the Berlin Community Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to visitation at the funeral home on Thursday starting at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Unity House of Troy, 33-2nd Street, Troy, NY, 12180, or www.unityhouseny.org to help with the fight against domestic violence.
Hazel’s family offers a special “Thank You” to the staff at the Hoosick Falls Health Center and to the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad for all they did to help Hazel.
