Lady Panthers Senior Night

February 18, 2011 By eastwickpress

by Bea Peterson
Last Friday night, February 11, was Senior Night for the HFCS girls basketball team. Their opponent was WASAREN league first place team Hoosic Valley.
The Hoosick Falls gals couldn’t put it together in the first quarter and Hoosic Valley led them 15-5. Then in the second quarter HF came alive, including two interceptions and four points in the final minute. At the half it was 17-18 with HF behind by only one point.
The third quarter was a disaster for HF as, once again, HV commanded the court allowing HF only three points to their 14. In the final quarter HF matched their opponent almost point for point, but they couldn’t overcome the deficit. The final score was Hoosic Valley 47, Hoosick Falls 36. It was a valiant effort overall.
High scorers for HF were Frankie Pearson and Carsen Williams with 11 points each. High scorer for Hoosic Valley was Cassidy Chapko, also with 11 points.

Panthers Beat Schuylerville
On Monday night, February 14, in Schuylerville, the HFCS girls basketball team put together a sweetheart of a fourth quarter. Up by one in the first quarter and two in the second, it was all tied up, 26-26 at the end of the third. In the fourth HF vaulted past Schuylerville to put 15 points on the board to their six. It made for a red hot Valentine’s Day for HF. The final score was 41-32. Carsen Williams had 14 points and 8 rebounds for the night. Nicole Marmillo had 8 and senior Samantha Skott had 7. The Panthers are 5-9 in the WASAREN League and 8-10 overall.
