Although the subject of Civil War re-enactor Mac McEvilly’s very entertaining talk at the Stephentown Historical Society Monday night was Morgan’s Artillery, a unit in the Union Army’s 155th New York Volunteers, part of the Irish brigade known as Corcoran’s Legion, McEvilly as a re-enactor portrays both Union and Confederate soldiers. A six-gun battery of artillery, he noted, comprised a lot more

than the six men firing each gun. With all the support personnel, the battery’s complement would come to more than 100 people.
