Patrick Moves In At The Rodgers Farm

Tuesday, February 27, 1855: John F. went with his two horse bobsled to Lebanon and called to Squ  Wm. Hands and consulted him concerning getting Edgar Brown to move out of our Rodgers house. Geo P. went to Pittsfield and bought sugar and oysters. There he met a boy by the name of Allen Smith, he came home with Geo P. to live with him, he came on trial. Said boy is from Windsor.
Wednesday: Today E. Bennet came and warned Edgar Brown to quit the Rodgers house.
Thursday: A man from Hancock came to buy hay, John F. weighed 16 hundred and ten pounds of hay at 12 dollars per ton and the man paid eleven dollars. Today the widow of Enos Broad and her two small children visited us, I gave her half a bushel of turnips. Today Edgar Brown and Aaron Merrils moved out of our Rodgers house.
Friday: Today John F. weighed two tons of hay to Nathaniel Wylie at 12 dollars per ton and half a ton  of Hay to Leander Rose at 12 dollars per ton  over to the Rodgers barn and today Patrick Rafferty had our ox team and bob sled and moved two loads of goods from Lebanon into our Rodgers house that he has hired for one year at 25 dollars and this evening Geo P. went for John F. to Elisha Bennet’s the constable to have him come and secure John Merrils for the cost and Judgment against him for house rent.
Monday: This evening John F. lent Julia Morey eighty dollars and took a note of her. This afternoon my wife went to Geo P. for his wife is quite unwell with a cold. Tonight a thaw and some rain.
Tuesday: I have a hard cold. Today Geo P.  and John F. went to Town Meeting at what is called Hiram Brown’s old stand where Mr. Manning keeps tavern, Henry Dwight Platt got in Supervisor in oppositions to R. A. Brown. Today John F. carried our hams to the widow Wylie’s to be smoked, 11 big ones and 4 small ones.
Wednesday: This evening my two daughters rode to the debating meeting and home again with Julia Morey, it was held at the school house near Harvey Patchings. Today I walked down to James M. Glass’s to see Elder Matthew Jones, he is some better.
